Cultural heritage
Cultural heritage is based on aspects of our past that we want to keep, appreciate and pass on to future generations. These elements reflect our history, and can evoke special meaning for us as individuals or as members of a community.
The Queensland Heritage Register recognises places that are important at a state, rather than a local, level. They help tell the story of Queensland's development and can include grand buildings or modest cottages, as well as reflecting the state's pastoral, commercial and industrial history.
Together these places make up the Queensland Heritage Register, and their inclusion in the Register helps to provide for their protection under the Queensland Heritage Act 1992.
